No Doubt guitarist Tom Dumont reveals Parkinson's disease diagnosis

Intelligence Briefing

April 12, 2026, p. m. ETLongtime No Doubt member Tom Dumont is opening up about being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease "years ago.

"The 58-year-old guitarist shared his health update in an April 11 post that corresponded with World Parkinson's Day. "A number of years ago I was experiencing a number of symptoms," the musician said. "I went to a neurologist, I did a whole bunch of tests, and I was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease.

It’s been a struggle; it’s a struggle every day. "The average Parkinson's patient is in their early to mid-60s, according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. A "small percent" of those diagnosed have early onset Parkinson's, which begins before age 50.

Symptoms of the progressive movement disorder typically include tremors, muscle stiffness, balance issues and slowed movement. "The good news is I can still play music. I can play guitar.

I've been doing really well," Dumont continued. "I've just been very inspired by so many people who have come out to talk about their health issues on social media. ...

It helps erase some of the stigma, and it raises awareness, obviously. And awareness is really important for prevention and for research. "In the caption, Dumont tagged the Michael J.

Fox Foundation and other organizations that are dedicated to finding a cure for the neurological disease and helping patients. Dumont ended his video by declaring he's "really excited" about No Doubt's upcoming shows at the Sphere in Las Vegas. "The last couple of months, getting ready for the No Doubt Sphere shows, it's been very fun," Dumont said.

"Looking through old footage and looking at old photographs and relearning old songs and rehearsing and creating all the video stuff for the screens at the Sphere, it's kind of made me think about how grateful I am for the life I've gotten to lead as a musician all these years. "The residency, which kicks off May 6, coincides with the 30th anniversary of No Doubt's third album, "Tragic Kingdom," and marks the group's first run of shows in 14 years. Previously, the Southern California-born band surprised fans in 2024 when they played at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The alternative rockers last toured together in 2009. In 2012, the group performed a seven-show residency at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles titled Seven Night Stand.
