Launch of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and Country’s First Variable Speed Pump Storage Plant in Uttarakhand will also mark 28th visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Uttarakhand in the last 12 years on Tuesday. Modi’s series of visits to Uttarakhand has become a talking point in the state. The much-awaited Delhi-Dehradun Expressway will formally be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday.
He will land in Uttarakhand for the 18th time in the regime of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and 28th visit since he assumed his office in 2014. Modi’s 18th visit to Uttarakhand in the last four and half years has become a talking point in the state. It’s being taken as Modi’s confidence in Dhami’s leadership and his governance.

No BJP chief minister in Uttarakhand was able to complete his full five-year term in the electoral history of Uttarakhand. Even in Congress governments only first elected chief minister of Uttarakhand late ND Tiwari was lone to complete his term from 2002 to 2007.
So far Uttarakhand has witnessed five assembly polls as its sixth election is due for early 2027. On his 28th visit to Uttarakhand Modi will inaugurate the long awaited Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and country’s first 1,000 MW Variable Speed Pumped Storage Plant (VSPSP) in Tehri. VSPSPs are advanced hydroelectric storage systems which use a modern series of converters to adjust speed of turbine units.
VSPSP technology enables flexible and speedy adjustment of power consumption while pumping water in the plant. It will lead to improved efficiency of power generation making them essential for integrating intermittent renewable energy. Speaking of Modi’s series of visits to Uttarakhand in the last 14 years, Chief Minister Dhami said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi shares a deep spiritual and emotional bond with Uttarakhand.
There is huge excitement in the people of ‘Devbhoomi’ for his visit on Tuesday. Numerous vital projects worth over ₹2 lakh crore were started and are in progress in his leadership. ” Dhami said, “Big projects like Chardham All-Weather Road, Rishikesh-Karanprayag Rail track, Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib Ropeway and Dehradun-Delhi elevated road projects were started in the leadership of the Prime Minister.
Uttarakhand has seen immense progress under the guidance of Narendra Modi.
