Move follows his labeling of the San Francisco park agency as wasteful President Trump has wiped the slate clean at San Francisco's Presidio Trust. All six presidentially-appointed board members of the federal corporation that manages the 1,500-acre former Army post-turned-national park were notified last week that their terms are over, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The trustees—Chair Mark Buell, Vice Chair Chuck Collins, Lenore "Leni" Eccles, Patsy Ishiyama, Bonnie LePard, and Nicola Minor—were all Biden appointees; three had terms that already expired last May, with the three others set to serve until May 2027.

The Trust says it has no word yet on replacements. The board also includes one member appointed by the Interior Department, but that seat has been empty for years. The shakeup follows Trump's 2025 executive order labeling the Presidio Trust an example of federal "waste and abuse" and calling for it to be cut back "to the maximum extent" allowed by law.

The Trust countered in a 14-page response that it hasn't needed federal appropriations since 2013, with record 2024 operating revenue of $182 million, profitable hotel and leasing businesses, and strong occupancy of its residential and commercial space. Board members, including some Trump-era appointees quoted in the response, described the Presidio as a financially solid model for urban parks. Some have suggested Trump's attack on the Presidio was really an attack on Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat who was key in establishing the Trust, per the Times.
